In order to make your document read only you will need to customize your word:
- Go to the "Office" button (top left office logo)
- Choose "Word Options" (buttom right of the menu)
- Goto "Customize"
- Then at the top TAB choose ALL COMMANDS
- Look for "Protect Document" command and add it to the menu
- Now, do back to the document where the "Office" button is and you'll see a green dot - click it
- Choose "Read only" and save the doc (You may choose to put a password)
